There be spoilers ahead...The Dark Knight Rises rounds off the extraordinary achievement, that is Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy. The third chapter is not a perfect movie, the first act is rather slow, the villain is not as engaging as The Joker, and our hero spends far too much time down a hole. The fusion related plot does seem pretty similar to Spider-man 2. Also, some of the dialogue is just plain inaudible.
That said, this is still great, ambitious movie making. Here are the best things in the movie...

| Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as determined cop, Blake) gives an awesome performance, maybe the best in the movie. The "Robin" twist at the end is cute and hopefully the door is open for him to be in Justice League or a Batman redux. |

| The final five minutes. Closure, revelation and hints of the future, all combine in the final few scenes- where we find out that both Bruce Wayne and Batman are alive, but perhaps no longer the same person. Like the ending of Inception, it leaves you wanting to know more and raises a lot of questions. |

| The Gotham Football Stadium. From the kid singing the National Anthem to the pitch collapsing - a stunning sequence. |

| The Bat. Just about manages to avoid looking like a Transformer, and gives our hero a stunning set of wings. |

| Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. An excellent performance in a tricky role - the cat is not essential to the plot, but Hathaway makes the transition from bad to good with conviction, even if the selling out of Batman did not entirely ring true. |

| Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon. Coming hot on the heals of his stellar performance in Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy - Oldman has perfected the "good cop" role and adds gravitas every time he's on screen. |

| Bane vs. Batman. Freed from all their fancy toys, the good versus evil battle is really brought to life with some good old fashioned fisticuffs. |
