Universal announces sequels to The Bourne Legacy and Ted.

Universal has green lit sequels to both Ted and The Bourne Legacy.  R rated comedy, Ted, has taken $395,040,820 at the global box office, and Universal will be hoping that the Seth Macfarlane hit, will become a Hangover style franchise.  It is questionable just how much millage there is in the Ted concept, and quite where you take the story.  Alarm bells should start ringing if the second movie involves a vacation...

By losing both Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass, the successful lead actor and director respectively, of the Bourne franchise, Universal gambled big on going ahead with the fourth instalment. The results are at best mixed;  In its first 35 days on release, its taken a moderate $182,982,443 globally.  In the US it is still lagging behind the first movie of the franchise, The Bourne Identity.  For the fifth one to make a serious impact, they really need Damon back on board.
